Taste Testing: Tattoo

Posted: 03 October 2010 | Posted by Alyssa | Labels: 0 comments

Well, I did it: I am tattooed.

Ali, Mary, and I got tattoos several weeks ago at Lucky's in downtown Northampton. I'm really glad that I did it although, I think that's it for me & tattoos. That baby hurt. I think that Mary described it best: it's like being stung by 100 bees while someone drags a hot knife across your skin.

Because I love it more than my mother tongue, I got my tattoo in Spanish. It says "sierva" and means servant.

Here's the scripture that I've sort of picked to back it up: "It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." --Matthew 20:26-28

I hope for it to serve as both a reminder and a testimony that I am firstly a servant of God and consequently a servant of others.

How fun! How new! How exciting!

Taste Testing: A New Series

Posted: 11 September 2010 | Posted by Alyssa | Labels: 0 comments

New experiences in life are a lot like those free taste testings. I mean, most people will try just about anything at a taste testing because, well, it's free. Maybe you'll love it, maybe you'll hate it but you'll never know until you try it.

Plus, you generally end up with a pretty good story/life experience in the end. So...

Recently I've gotten several opportunities to "taste test" some new experiences in life so I'm going to take this not-so-crazy, not-so-structured part of my life to write about them: things I've done, things I want to do, things I've seen, want to see, things I feel. I'm going to write about them the best that I know how.

Ready. Set. Taste test.
